One of my favorite Ferrari stories was one year they let Ferrari owners drive on the St. Pete Grand Prix track. So, here was a batch of folks with more money than sense and off they went. I was cheering for the wall because I am a bad person.......Turn 1. 3 Ferraris wreck. Not bad, but a yellow car’s door was pretty dinged up.

Later on I am in the Paddock area and a guy with his kid go walking past. Dude is carrying a yellow Ferrari door on his shoulder like Captain America’s shield. I had to ask....

Dude: Well, I was walking around when the mechanics pulled the door off and just handed it too me. So here I am.
Me: What....are you going to do with it?
Dude: I have no idea.

Down 1% today? That’s not tanking at all...

But half my stocks see regular 3% swings in a day, so I’m used to it.

Fair enough...just focus on the percentages vs the overall market. It’s the only way to stay sane :D

I’m done with auto stocks — Toyota through their crisis, now VW, plus Ford during the slow times. They’ve just been so disappointing.

Meanwhile, I’ve hit 15x my investment in Apple and 10x+ in Amazon and Netflix over the same general period...

Amazon has been on a tear lately, it’s unreal. I wouldn’t bet against that momentum if you want something short-term...

But I’ve never bought anything that I didn’t plan to hold for at least 10 years.

A longshot gamble might be USO (oil). A lot of big daily changes lately and most of the market is expecting a net increase.

Ouch. I gambled on car stocks ONCE. In 2008 when everything went to hell I looked at Ford and said, “no way with their European holdings and sales they go under.” So I dropped $7000 on Ford at under $2.00. I refuse to tempt fate again with such single stock purchases.
